Available Year Round
The Casale Sonnino is available all year around for rental by the week and short term. From time to time, especially in the off season, we welcome a Bed & Breakfast arrangement for three days or more. We have hosted many families with three generations of travelers, groups of friends who find that the Casale inspires a special camaraderie and artists who spend their days painting and their evenings evaluating their work while sipping the local Frascati wine. In fact, adorning the walls of the villa are many paintings and drawings done by artists who found their creative muse at the Casale. Over the years, one artist instructor has brought over 40 groups in every season and she still hasn’t run out of subjects to paint.
A Warm Welcome
The day you arrive at the Casale you are welcomed by one of the owners or one of our good friends who speak fluent English as well as French and of course Italian. We ensure to your comfort in the Villa, give you the lay of the land and answer all of your questions. We will show you how to get to Monte Porzio and Frascati where you will find a variety of stores and restaurants and how to get into Rome via the train or the metro. Of course, how you spend your vacation is entirely up to you, but most of our guests take advantage of planning their trip with Claire before they leave, looking over the extensive collection of maps and guidebooks at the Casale and following the advice of George or Clo who are more than happy to help you take the greatest advantage of your time during your stay. The country kitchen has a gas stove, microwave and coffeemaker and is fully stocked with spices and pots and pans for cooking up your fantasy Italian meal. However, many guests would rather eat while on the road touring or at the many excellent restaurants nearby. If you are interested, we can prepare delicious dinners at the Casale with a two days notice and provide a tour guide for day trips or tours around Rome.
Housekeeping & Laundry
Housekeeping and laundry service are included in your rental rate. Our guests truly enjoy having their tee-shirts ironed and their dinner dishes washed and put away before they wake up in the morning. The housekeeper also lays out your breakfast and brews your coffee, so you can get an early start to your day of touring.
In Italian, Casale means "Farmhouse"
Since the Casale Sonnino is a working farm, you will be offered zucchini, tomatoes, peaches, figs or other seasonal produce from the garden. Or you might be invited to partake in whatever might be going on during your stay like the “Sagra dell’Uva” (Wine festival) in nearby Marino or the Casale’s own Cortesia (harvest party). Don’t be surprised if a tractor rattles by or several men have a spirited conversation under the magnificent Lebanon Cedar or if you hear talking in the farm office adjacent to the kitchen.

Imagine coming home to your rented villa, tired from a day's outing to some
of the beautiful and historic towns called "Castelli Romani" - you enter the
gorgeous front iron gates, walk the fabulous cobble stone driveway lined with
Olive trees, enter the charming salon and living room ... Their villa becomes your home away from home.

Cookbook, and The Joy of Pasta
Two years ago I began planning a trip that would be my Christmas gift to my three grown children. ... To our delight, we arrived to Christmas greenery throughout and a decorated tree with a roaring fire and the table ready to welcome us - to watch Rome twinkle at Christmas Eve through the dining room window of the Casale is the very thing that writers describe and artists paint.
