A Warm Welcome
The day you arrive at the Casale you are welcomed by one of the owners or one of our good friends who speak fluent English as well as French and of course Italian. We ensure to your comfort in the Villa, give you the lay of the land and answer all of your questions. We will show you how to get to Monte Porzio and Frascati where you will find a variety of stores and restaurants and how to get into Rome via the train or the metro. Of course, how you spend your vacation is entirely up to you, but most of our guests take advantage of planning their trip with Claire before they leave, looking over the extensive collection of maps and guidebooks at the Casale and following the advice of George or Clo who are more than happy to help you take the greatest advantage of your time during your stay. The country kitchen has a gas stove, microwave and coffeemaker and is fully stocked with spices and pots and pans for cooking up your fantasy Italian meal. However, many guests would rather eat while on the road touring or at the many excellent restaurants nearby. If you are interested, we can prepare delicious dinners at the Casale with a two days notice and provide a tour guide for day trips or tours around Rome.
Accomodations at The Casale
The Casale Sonnino has 5+ Bedrooms and 3 Full Baths. It is most comfortable for 6-8 people, yet as many as 12 people have shared the Villa at one time. Floor plans are available upon request.
Second Floor
There are four double occupancy bedrooms and one single, pass through bedroom connected to the terrace on the second floor. On the 20’ x 45’ terrace you can enjoy not only the glorious view stretching from Rome to the Apennine Mountains, but also a game of ping pong. There are also two full recently updated bathrooms. One has a tub/shower and the other has a stall shower. Connecting two of the bedrooms with one bathroom is a small parlor, forming a private suite.
Ground Floor
The focal point of the Casale is the expansive 20’x 45’ living room and dining room with 180 degree views over the Roman plain. There is a Renaissance refectory dining table with seating for 14, a working fireplace, a TV/DVD and a foosball table as well as plenty of seating for gathering and relaxing. In an adjacent parlor, there is more seating and a small table that is lovely for breakfast as it is bathed in the southern light.
Country Kitchen
The country kitchen, the heart of the Casale, is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes and spices and is yours to use throughout your stay. There is a gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and coffeemakers – both American and Espresso styles. Also on this floor is a bedroom and one full bath with a tub/shower. Sometimes this bedroom is used by the owner or by a guest if there is a large group. The farm office, used by the owners and employees, is connected to one side of the kitchen and has its own outside entrance.

Imagine coming home to your rented villa, tired from a day's outing to some
of the beautiful and historic towns called "Castelli Romani" - you enter the
gorgeous front iron gates, walk the fabulous cobble stone driveway lined with
Olive trees, enter the charming salon and living room ... Their villa becomes your home away from home.

Cookbook, and The Joy of Pasta
Two years ago I began planning a trip that would be my Christmas gift to my three grown children. ... To our delight, we arrived to Christmas greenery throughout and a decorated tree with a roaring fire and the table ready to welcome us - to watch Rome twinkle at Christmas Eve through the dining room window of the Casale is the very thing that writers describe and artists paint.
